Christmas Letter 2016

Dear Friends and Family,

We’ve had another busy year!  We’ve continued to stay busy working on home improvements, the biggest of which has been our kitchen.  We put in new flooring, refinished the cabinets, brought the bar down to counter height, installed new granite countertops, and are finishing with a subway tile backsplash and new light fixtures.  The kitchen has been transformed and we love it more and more with each passing day!  The next few months will have us installing new wood flooring and carpet throughout the rest of the home.

Dan ran a half marathon in April on the coast, and then a full marathon in October.  He was extremely happy to have finally achieved his goal of running a marathon! Dan is still currently an AVP at Credit Suisse, and manages a small team.  He continues to serve as the 2nd counselor in the Elder’s Quorum Presidency for our local church.  He has spent the better half of the year preparing to the take the GMAT and applying to MBA programs.  He has applied to BYU, UNC, Duke, and NC State.  Hopefully, by the time you receive this letter, we will know where he will be going to school in the fall.

Katy returned back to school this May.  She is working towards to her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, eventually entering a graduate program to become a Midwife.  Katy is also expecting our second little boy, who will be due in March of 2017.  She has been very sick this pregnancy and is thankful for the relief she has finally felt the last month.  She also serves in Young Women’s at church and teaches the Youth every Sunday.  Life has been very full!

Hannah turned 8 years old this year and was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She started 2nd grade this year.  Her favorite subjects are Art and Math. She is a great big sister who is always seeking ways she can help her mom and dad.

Bella turned 6 years old and started 1st grade.  Bella’s favorite subjects are Math and Reading. Bella is our avid reader.  She continues to grow and mature.  She is coming into her own and loves to help out in the kitchen.

Charlie turned 4 this year!  He is attending a full day preschool at the elementary school that the girls attend.  He may be small for his age but he is full of personality, and super cute to boot!  Charlie loves to build with blocks and Legos.  His teacher has mentioned how much all the kids in his class love him!  He has so many friends and has come out of his shell the last few months.

Faith is 2 years old this year!  She is the little darling of the family and doted upon by all.  She has grown so much this last year, and continues to amaze us with her determined but loving nature.  She is potty-trained!  She was our easiest and quickest yet.  She is looking forward to seeing her baby brother, who she loves to call, “MY baby brother!”  She talks up a storm and is full of enthusiasm.

We hope this year has been full of love and laughter for you all!  We love you! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Here's a quick update on our family!

-Dan's currently studying and preparing to take the GMAT on July 15th.  We're hoping to apply for grad schools for next Fall 2017.

Dan is also currently enjoying his role as an AVP at Credit Suisse.  He will be leaving his current team by the end of the year due to having out grown his team. He is currently taking an online class at the local community college, Wake Tech.  He's learning more about databases.

He ran a half marathon in April on the beach!  He plans to complete his marathon on October 15th.

He's also enjoying his most successful year running our neighborhood garden.  We have a few families participating and are seeing the benefits from past years experiences. We've already been reaping an abundant harvest.

If that didn't keep him busy enough, he is still serving in the EQ presidency.

-Katy is currently enrolled at the local community school, Wake Tech.  She is taking an intense class of Statistics and will soon be starting a Sociology class. She is working towards her Bachelors of Nursing with the end goal of attending graduate school in several years to become a Certified Nurse Midwife.  She is greatly enjoying the growth at this time.

Katy is still teaching piano lessons but has downsized to accommodate school work.

Katy was also recently called to be a Mia Maid adviser and LOVES working with the young women in our ward!

Katy is also recovering emotionally and physically from a miscarriage that took place at the end of April/ beginning of May.  It was especially hard after the loss of another baby back in November of 2015, due to an ectopic pregnancy.

-Hannah  is finishing up 1st grade in 3 days!  She is growing so fast and is looking forward to getting baptized and becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 5 more months.

-Bella  is almost done with her Kindergarten year!  We can't believe how big she is getting!  She loves to read and is very bright.

-Charlie  is turning 4 next month!  We can't believe how fast he is growing up!  This next year will be his last at home before he starts Kindergarten!

-Faith just turned 2 years old in May.  She is a joy to all and loved very much!  She is constantly hugging and kissing everyone!  She is talking more and more every day and it is a joy to hear her thoughts!

We hope to post more pictures soon!!  Hopefully we can share some moments from Faith's birthday!!  Much love!
