Lots going on

May started off with a bang. My mom arrived the same day my sister in-law Shalyse had her baby.  I was watching Shalyse's kids until her mom arrived.  It was a busy 3 nights and 2 1/2 days with 5 little ones 4 and under.  It was nice to have the extra hands!  After Hannah's dance recital and soccer game, we drove to Asheville, NC to see the Biltamore Estate.  We spent 3-4 days enjoying our little mini vacation and each others company and then my mom had to fly back. We had tons of fun and enjoyed lots of Grandma time. Another great thing is I was able to us my moms camera to get some awesome photos of Hannah dressed up for her recital and of her soccer game the next day.  Here's some fun photos (you may have already seen some of these if you are friends with me on facebook):

At the beginning of the game, Hannah totally got knocked down.

Hannah with her team and the coach doing his thing.  Dan has really enjoyed being the assistant coach.

We've been very busy between Soccer practice and games, dance, preschool, speech therapy and all the other appointments we have.  I'm looking forward to the summer once soccer and preschool end.  We should actually have come free days to enjoy the warm weather and the fun that comes with it.

Our Garden

The garden in March.

We had potatoes.

Lettuce

A volunteer melon.

End of March everything had grown and we planted added pea seedlings.

Dan next to our 2 compost bins. This year we used our own compost and have seen amazing results.

Our strawberries.  Sadly we have a bunny that's been eating any that get close to harvest.

We have two peach trees.  We actually got pretty purple blossoms and have really small fruit now. The fruit won't be edible this year but it's fun to see what's coming!

Our blueberry bushes. We won a gift a card at our last HOA meeting to a garden center around here, so we decided to use it to buy some blueberry bushes.

The blueberry bushes are laden with fruit and we are excited for harvest!

Our blackberries.  The one on the right has 1 berry growing. We also have raspberry bushes but something keeps nibbling on them so we'll see if them can make a come back or not.

Hannah's sunflower that she grew from a seed in preschool.

Our garden at the end of last month.

Our cantaloupe or honey dew.  We're not sure because they are all volunteers from the compost.

Our lettuce and spinach.  We've been eating salads almost everyday and sometimes for more than one meal.

Crazy potatoes.  We should have been burying them but didn't have the soil, so we'll see how they turn out.

It's growing :)

Our corn and other row of lettuce and spinach.

Our garden just this week.

The melons are getting huge!

These are the watermelons. The seedlings had a hard time and are finally starting to recover.  We'll see if we get a harvest. Also you can see our spicy peppers that are bigger already then they were last year at the end of the season.

This shows our snap peas, bush beans, carrots, basil and poppies.

We are looking forward to the blossoms.

These potatoes are seriously crazy!  Behind them we have our 2nd zucchini, more herbs, and tomatoes.

Our two rows of tomatoes.  We are growing 3 different varieties this year. We also have our bell peppers off to the right which are still behind but we hope they will pick up.

And it keeps on growing!  The girls can now sit under it for shade!  Behind the sunflower is our cucumbers that are starting to pick up!

And our corn. We plan on doing a final harvest of the lettuce and spinach to give the corn more room to grow.

Charlie almost 10 months

I can't believe my little man is almost 10 months old!
- He is SUCH a happy little boy. His smile seriously lights up a room.
- He also loves people.  He does the thing.....he'll smile and then duck his head!  It's so funny that he is innately bashful!
- He is the fastest commando out there and has started pulling himself up onto things.
- He has started 'talking' by saying 'da-da' and 'ma-ma' It's so cute because he knows that I'm ma-ma.
- I am seriously his favorite person.  He has started giving me the most slobbery, open mouth kisses any mom would want.
- He LOVES food.  Green beans, peas, baby cereal, cheerios and anything off the floor are his favorites.
- He finally has the sleeping at night thing down!  We get 8-12 hours solid sleep at night.  This is one momma that was beginning to think that day would never come.
- He loves to follow his sisters around.  Him and Hannah can spends hours laughing as she entertains him.  I love it.  It warms my heart to when I see my three little ones sitting in a circle  laughing together.
Anyways, he's a pretty awesome little guy and I am seriously attached!

Easter 2013

Easter seemed to sneak up on us this year.  Before we knew it Easter was here and we were rushing to fit everything in.  The town of Fuquay Varina does an Easter Egg hunt and a candy hop downtown which is tons of fun.  This year we only did the egg hunt because we had soccer practice during the candy hop.  Easter morning the girls enjoyed waking up to their baskets and we enjoyed seeing them start to get whats going on :).   After church we dyed eggs with them, followed by an Easter dinner with Dan's siblings and their family.  It was tons of fun with lots of delicious food and great company.  We also did an egg hunt then which ended up being inside due to the weather and every possible hiding place was taken we had so many of them.  We also had the kids come down in shifts.  First was the toddlers, Ethan, Bella and Peter.  Followed by the preschoolers, Ben, Andrea and Hannah. And then the big kids, Emily, Josh and Sariah came down and cleaned house (like the pun ;).
